Before Jesus Changed My Life
I was born into a Hindu family and had no connection to Christianity. Through unexpected circumstances, I attended a Catholic school, where I first became drawn to the peace I felt inside churches. I even asked for a Bible when I was thirteen, but without understanding or guidance, I gave up trying to read it. As I grew older, my life became marked by rebellion — alcohol, parties, and living for myself. I searched for fulfillment in relationships, in approval, and in temporary pleasures. I believed love from another person could satisfy the deepest parts of me. But over time, my marriage began to drift into unhealthy patterns, and emotional distance grew. Instead of turning to God, I tried to cope in my own strength. When my marriage reached a breaking point, I felt completely hopeless. The pain became so overwhelming that I was ready to end my life. In that dark place, I came face to face with my brokenness. Everything I had built my life on had failed me. I realized I could not rescue myself. I needed something greater than me.
How Jesus Changed My Life
During some of my lowest seasons, strangers had approached me with the message of the gospel, telling me that true joy and peace could only be found in Jesus. I had always brushed it aside. But when I reached the end of myself, I could no longer ignore it. In desperation, I cried out to God. I prayed and asked Him to reveal Himself to me if He was real. I asked Him to save me. My husband and I began searching for a church and found Veritas. Sitting under the teaching of Scripture, the Word of God pierced my heart in a way it never had before. I began to understand that my problem was not just circumstances, it was sin. I saw that I was separated from God and could not fix myself. I responded by repenting, turning away from my sin and placing my faith fully in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord. I surrendered my life to Him and asked Him to change my heart. Somewhere in that surrender, He did. He replaced my heart of stone with a heart that loves Him.
“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:12-13
My Life After Jesus Saved Me
Today, my life is completely different. The despair that once consumed me has been replaced with peace. The hopelessness that once led me toward death has been replaced with purpose and joy. I am now filled with a deep love for Christ and for His Word. I have a zeal and hunger for Scripture that I never had before. What once felt confusing is now life-giving. I pursue Him not out of obligation, but because I truly love Him. I know that my identity is secure in Christ, my sins are forgiven, and my future is eternal with Him.
