Before Jesus Changed My Life

Before Jesus changed my life, I was living for the world that led me into a dark place and spending time with the wrong people who were leading me down the wrong path, all because I wanted to fit in. A year later, I ended up in a very toxic relationship that lasted about a year. Losing that person was very hard, but it ultimately led me to begin my relationship with God. I was led to purchase a Bible and began reading it, but I was still lukewarm with God at that time, and continued looking to find satisfaction in worldly things, but nothing was helping me get out of this dark place I was in. I didn't know what I was doing, and I didn’t know what a true relationship with God meant. Six months after that, I ended up in a good relationship, or so I thought. I ended up moving to go to school and work where he lived, and the week I was supposed to move, he cheated on me and began treating me differently. This is what really brought me closer to God. I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with this person because he was everything I wanted especially because he said he had a strong faith and I thought we could build a God centered relationship together but things went south and he turned out to be the complete opposite of what I thought he was, and instead of dwelling on the situation, I turned to God, and things started becoming clearer. I could now see that true satisfaction isn’t found in earthly relationships, but in the relationship I was made for with God.

How Jesus Changed My Life

Truthfully, my relationship with God is not because of one singular specific moment but a gradual journey. I knew I needed a change in my life and that I needed to grow closer to God. It definitely was and is not an easy thing because the world is always influencing worldly things, but worldly things are never a permanent fix, but God's love is. Romans 5:8 says, “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” I can honestly say that I am in such a good place in life, and that is because I turned to God. I felt like he was all I had. I now believe that the gospel means "good news", the Bible tells us about Jesus's life and his work to reconcile us back to God. Jesus, being God himself and the only son of God, died on the cross for us and our sins. We are all sinners by nature and yet in Christ we can be forgiven and receive his righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). If we follow Jesus, he will lead us out of our worldly desires and focus more on what's important, and lead to everlasting love and give us eternal life. Worldly desires will never satisfy us enough, as Jesus's love is forever (John 4:13-14).

My Life After Jesus Saved Me

My life is different now because I have distanced myself from worldly things to get me through hard times and instead I trust God and pray to him about it. I trust him when things get hard and know that it all has a purpose (Romans 8:28). I no longer hold grudges but forgive those that have done wrong against me and have hurt me as no sin committed against me is greater than all the sins I have committed against God and their sin is debt between them and God and not between me and them (Ephesians 4:32). I know I have eternal life through Jesus Christ because he has changed me for the better since I surrendered to him and he bacame the center of my life. 1 John 5:13 says, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.”
